Year 4 Design Research Unit: Landscape:Architecture

This work answered a question: what comes first - architecture or landscape?
The automatic answer is that 'the site comes before the building'.

A familiarity with the coast of the British Isles would bring up numerous examples of areas where land had been created by building. One particular area near Dundee was the coast near Monifieth. Our work with the Geography Department identified that this stretch of coast had been substantially altered by industrial construction and the resultant form was maintained by groins.

This coast subsequently formed one of our fundamental study areas.
